Today, I’m going to talk to you about getting out of your comfort zone. As writers, we tend to be closed up and not very social. We prefer to sit in a dark room with our laptop as our only light. Trust me, I know. I’m one of those people.
We need to get out more. Even if you never leave your room you can still promote your book and talk to a couple hundred strangers for an hour or so. Be a guest on a writing podcast like I was (even though my book isn’t quite ready for publishing!) or maybe even have your own podcast. If you’re serious about getting your book out there, you have to get your book out there. Yes, you can do blog tours. I most likely will. But readers do like to hear your voice every once in a while.
If you don’t want to do a podcast, get out of the house. That’s right, it’s time to get out and do a book tour. Heck, you’ll probably have to do that anyway. Readers these days like to actually see the author in person (or is that just me?) and hear them talk about their book. If any readers are anything like me, they like to know that the writer is genuine, and sometimes base whether or not their going to buy the book on the writer’s attitude. Even if you’re nervous, try not to show it. The audience wants you to succeed. Trust me.
What do you do to get your book out there? Let me know in the comments or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow me on twitter: @SCourtney94.
As always, keep the faith, writers. I believe in you all.
