I almost wasn’t able to get a post up today… WordPress is acting weird on me, you guys!

Today, I’m going to talk to yo about promoting. Promotion is one of my weak points. I know, why am I talking about it? I want to try and talk though it. Work with me here, and for my more experienced readers, let me know if I’m wrong. I’ll gladly admit that I was.

Promotion is one of those intimidating things, right? I can’t be the only one who dreads having to get my book out into the world to where people actually know about it. I decided to take a crack at it early on, right here on my website. Look in the Draft One category… My first chapter for my first draft is there. If you don’t like it, don’t worry. I didn’t care for it either. That’s why several scenes have been changed already and are continuing to change. Yay for editing.

After your book is out, what do you do? Well, I’m not really sure, but I know you need people to know about it. Nobody knows your book came out and nobody cares. I know about a lot of authors giving away freebies or putting their book on sale, and that’s one way. One author I know is giving away free kindle copies before her book comes out in exchange for Amazon reviews on the release date. I may do that, too!

Of course, you want to make connections. Social media is huge, and you can’t get away from it. Connections are extremely important. If you have people supporting you, you have people that actually want to buy your book.

I know I just put up a couple ways, and there are way more. I didn’t want to get into the whole “BUY MY BOOK” with a link thing. In my opinion, that gets you nowhere.

What do you do to promote? Feel free to let me know!
