I’m sorry I didn’t get a prompt up on Friday, everyone! Between putting up the Christmas tree, my sister and her family coming into town for round two of Thanksgiving, and my niece spending the entire weekend with us, I didn’t even have time to think about it.
Now, the past few weeks, I’ve been talking about different murders on Mondays. That wasn’t really a big hit, so I decided to switch to something that writers can actually related to: the trouble with writing.
We all have that one thing we despise about writing, right? Mine is having to read the manuscript over and over and over again. I’m on the third draft, and let me tell you, I’m sick of it. Absolutely sick of it.
I’m sick of reading my own words. I’m sick of having to go through the tedious process of changing things. I’m sick of a scene being completely rewritten. I even got sick of the entire plot line being changed. Yet, at the same time, I love it.
It’s troublesome, isn’t it? We get so sick and tired of reading our own work, yet we have to keep moving forward. Someone asked me if I was going to read my own book once it was published. If I have a copy left over, I probably will, just because it’s my first book and I’ll be in awe of the fact that my own work is in print, but let me tell you, I’ll be doing everything I can to get it out of my house.
I know everyone has a different thing they despise about writing. What is yours? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
Keep the faith, writers. I believe in you all.
