believe in you all, fresh eye, fresh mind, getting published, keep the faith, Lesson 26, lessons, needing breaks, taking breaks

Apologies for not getting a post up on Monday. I was out of town all day for my sister’s wedding!

Today I’m going to talk about taking breaks in your writing. I know, I’ve talked about this before, but now that I’ve actually finished the first draft of my novel, it’s more important to me than ever.

We all need to take breaks at some point in time. Trust me, we do. We need to take a break and look at the piece with a fresh eye and mind before doing anything else with it.

As some of you know, I finished the first draft of my novel last week. I haven’t even looked at it since then. I barely even think about it. I want to start the editing process in the next week or so, but for now, a break from the manuscript is a must.

I know, sometimes it’s hard to take a break. I’ll be honest with you, sometimes when I’m not writing, it’s hard. I don’t like it. You know what, though? It’s worth it. I can guarantee it’s worth it. Do you want to get that book published without going totally insane? Take a break. You need it. Trust me.
